Andy is the CEO at NZRSI. He practices as a specialist in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He was involved (with others) in establishing the first Polysomnography Sleep Laboratory at Greenlane Hospital 20 years ago. He now has 30 years’ experience working in clinical trials, with 10 years as the lead investigator. With his he has been able to oversee more than 30 studies since the research unit began at NZRSI in 2008. |

Associate Professor Jeff Garrett (Principle Investigator), MB ChB 1976 Otago; FRACP 1984 Jeff has practiced as a specialist in respiratory medicine for 35 years. He has published 80+ papers for which he was awarded an Honorary Clinical Associate Professorship in 2002. He was Clinical Director of Respiratory Medicine at Green Lane Hospital from 1992-2000, Clinical Director of Medicine at Middlemore Hospital from 2002-2015 and President of the NZ Branch of TSANZ and an executive member of the European Respiratory Society for 4 years. His lifetime achievements were recently recognised by being made a Fellow of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand. |
Fay (Research Nurse Manager)
Fay has over 15 years’ experience in Research as a Nurse coordinating trials and managing teams.
Mel (Research Nurse and Study Coordination)
Mel worked in both cardiothoracic and vascular intensive care units and as a nurse specialist in the Christchurch Hospital sleep unit before joining the NZRSI Research Unit. She has been with us for over 6 years recruiting and coordinating our clinical trials.
Alice (Study Coordinator)
Alice came to us from Melbourne where she was involved with coordinating the national breast cancer data base. She joined NZRSI in 2019 as a study coordinator.
